The Revelation of Baha'u'llah, whose supreme mission is none other but the
achievement of this organic and spiritual unity of the whole body of
nations, should, if we be faithful to its implications, be regarded as
signalizing through its advent the coming of age of the entire human race.
It should be viewed not merely as yet another spiritual revival in the
ever-changing fortunes of mankind, not only as a further stage in a chain
of progressive Revelations, nor even as the culmination of one of a series
of recurrent prophetic cycles, but rather as marking the last and highest
stage in the stupendous evolution of man's collective life on this planet.
The emergence of a world community, the consciousness of world citizenship,
the founding of a world civilization and culture - all of which must
synchronize with the initial stages in the unfoldment of the Golden Age of
the Baha'i Era - should, by their very nature, be regarded, as far as this
planetary life is concerned, as the furthermost limits in the organization
of human society, though man, as an individual, will, nay must indeed as a
result of such a consummation, continue indefinitely to progress and develop.

Selections From the Writings of the Báb
O Thou Supreme Pen! Move over the Tablet by the leave of Thy Lord, the Creator of the heavens. Call Thou then to mind the day when
the Fountainhead of divine unity sought to attend the school which is
sanctified of all save God, that perchance the righteous might become
acquainted, to the extent of a needle's eye, with that which is concealed
behind the veil of the inner mysteries of Thy Lord, the Almighty, the
All-Knowing.
Gleanings From the Writings of Bahá'u'lláh
Behold, how the divers peoples and kindreds of the earth have been waiting for the coming of the
Promised One. No sooner had He, Who is the Sun of
Truth, been made manifest, than, lo, all turned away
from Him, except them whom God was pleased to
guide. We dare not, in this Day, lift the veil that
concealeth the exalted station which every true believer
can attain, for the joy which such a revelation
must provoke might well cause a few to faint away
and die.
The Hidden Words (Persian) of Bahá'u'lláh
The bird seeketh its nest; the nightingale the
charm of the rose; whilst those birds, the hearts
of men, content with transient dust, have
strayed far from their eternal nest, and with
eyes turned towards the slough of heedlessness
are bereft of the glory of the divine presence. Alas!
How strange and pitiful; for a mere cupful, they
have turned away from the billowing seas of the
Most High, and remained far from the most effulgent
horizon.
The Hidden Words (Arabic) of Bahá'u'lláh
The best beloved of all things in My sight is Justice;
turn not away therefrom if thou desirest
Me, and neglect it not that I may confide in thee.
By its aid thou shalt see with thine own eyes and
not through the eyes of others, and shalt know of
thine own knowledge and not through the knowledge
of thy neighbor. Ponder this in thy heart;
how it behooveth thee to be. Verily justice is My
gift to thee and the sign of My loving-kindness. Set
it then before thine eyes.
Kitáb-i-Íqán by Bahá'u'lláh
To them that are endowed with understanding, it is clear and manifest that when the fire of the
love of Jesus consumed the veils of Jewish limitations,
and His authority was made apparent and
partially enforced, He the Revealer of the unseen
Beauty, addressing one day His disciples, referred
unto His passing, and, kindling in their hearts the
fire of bereavement, said unto them: "I go away
and come again unto you." And in another place
He said: "I go and another will come Who will
tell you all that I have not told you, and will fulfil
all that I have said." Both these sayings have but
one meaning, were you to ponder upon the Manifestations
of the Unity of God with divine insight.

Proclamation of Bahá'u'lláh
National rivalries, hatreds and intrigues will cease,
and racial animosity and prejudice will be replaced by
racial amity, understanding and co-operation. The
causes of religious strife will be permanently removed,
economic barriers and restrictions will be completely
abolished, and the inordinate distinction between
classes will be obliterated. Destitution on the one hand,
and gross accumulation of ownership on the other,
will disappear. The enormous energy dissipated and
wasted on war, whether economic or political, will be
consecrated to such ends as will extend the range of
human inventions and technical development, to the
increase of the productivity of mankind, to the extermination
of disease, to the extension of scientific research,
to the raising of the standard of physical health,
to the sharpening and refinement of the human brain,
to the exploitation of the unused and unsuspected resources
of the planet, to the prolongation of human
life, and to the furtherance of any other agency that
can stimulate the intellectual, the moral, and spiritual
life of the entire human race.

Prayers and Meditations by Bahá'u'lláh
I beseech Thee, O Thou Who art my Companion in my lowliness, to rain down upon Thy loved ones
from the clouds of Thy mercy that which will cause
them to be satisfied with Thy pleasure, and will enable
them to turn unto Thee and to be detached from all
else except Thee. Ordain, then, for them every good
conceived by Thee and predestined in Thy Book.
Epistle To The Son Of The Wolf by Bahá'u'lláh
And when this Wronged One went forth out of
His prison, We journeyed, in pursuance of the order
of His Majesty the Sháh--may God, exalted be He,
protect him--to Íráq, escorted by officers in the
service of the esteemed and honored governments of
Persia and Russia. After Our arrival, We revealed,
as a copious rain, by the aid of God and His Divine
Grace and mercy, Our verses, and sent them to various
parts of the world.
The Seven Valleys and the Four Valleys of Bahá'u'lláh
On this journey the traveler abideth in every land and dwelleth in every region. In every face,
he seeketh the beauty of the Friend; in every
country he looketh for the Beloved. He joineth
every company, and seeketh fellowship with
every soul, that haply in some mind he may
uncover the secret of the Friend, or in some
face he may behold the beauty of the Loved
One.
'Abdu'l-Bahá in London
Firstly: He lays stress on the search for Truth.
This is most important, because the people are too easily led by tradition. It is because of this
that they are often antagonistic to each other, and dispute with one another.
But the manifesting of Truth discovers the darkness and becomes the cause of Oneness of
faith and belief: because Truth cannot be two! That is not possible.
Memorials of the Faithful by 'Abdu'l-Bahá
A thousand ways I tried
My love to hide--
But how could I, upon that blazing pyre
Not catch fire!
Foundations Of World Unity by 'Abdu'l-Bahá
From every standpoint the world of humanity is undergoing a re-formation. The laws of former governments and civilizations are in
process of revision, scientific ideas and theories are developing and
advancing to meet a new range of phenomena, invention and discovery
are penetrating hitherto unknown fields revealing new wonders and
hidden secrets of the material universe; industries have vastly wider
scope and production; everywhere the world of mankind is in the
throes of evolutionary activity indicating the passing of the old conditions
and advent of the new age of re-formation.
The Advent Of Divine Justice by Shoghi Effendi
How often have the Prophets of God, not excepting
Bahá'u'lláh Himself, chosen to appear, and deliver their
Message in countries and amidst peoples and races, at a time
when they were either fast declining, or had already
touched the lowest depths of moral and spiritual degradation.
Bahá'u'lláh and the New Era by J.E. Esslemont
In seeking for fuller knowledge about the movement I
found considerable difficulty in obtaining the literature I
wanted, and soon conceived the idea of putting together the
gist of what I learned in the form of a book, so that it might
be more easily available for others. When communication with
Palestine was reopened after the war, I wrote to Ábdu'l-Bahá
and enclosed a copy of the first nine chapters of the book,
which was then almost complete in rough draft. I received a
very kind and encouraging reply, and a cordial invitation to visit
Him in Haifa and bring the whole of my manuscript with
me.
Paris Talks by 'Abdu'l-Bahá
Put into practice the Teaching of Bahá'u'lláh, that of kindness to all nations. Do not be content with
showing friendship in words alone, let your heart burn with loving kindness for all who may cross your path. ... The East and the West must unite to give to each other what is lacking. This union will bring about a
true civilization, where the spiritual is expressed and
carried out in the material.
The Promulgation Of Universal Peace Talks by 'Abdu'l-Bahá
The divine Prophets came to establish the unity of the Kingdom
in human hearts. All of them proclaimed the glad tidings of the divine
bestowals to the world of mankind. All brought the same message
of divine love to the world. Jesus Christ gave His life upon the
cross for the unity of mankind. Those who believed in Him likewise
sacrificed life, honor, possessions, family, everything, that
this human world might be released from the hell of discord, enmity
and strife. His foundation was the oneness of humanity. Only
a few were attracted to Him. They were not the kings and rulers of
His time. They were not rich and important people. Some of
them were catchers of fish.
The Chosen Highway by Lady Blomfield
At this time there were two learned, highly honoured, and saintly men, Shaykh Ahmad-i-Ahsa'i and Siyyid Kazim-i-Rashti. These two were the only men of the large number of Mullas and scholars in Persia who, at
that time, had any vision of the near approach of the Holy One, the Forerunner.
They set themselves to the work of preparation for the Great day, ignoring
personal risk of persecution or death.
Selections From The Writings Of 'Abdu'l-Bahá
And among His signs is the sublimity of His grandeur,
His exalted state, His towering glory, and the shining out of
His beauty above the horizon of the Prison: so that heads
were bowed before Him and voices lowered, and humble
were the faces that turned His way. This is a proof never
witnessed in the ages gone before.
